UPDATE: David McAdams, a suspect in a Moline homicide, cried and wiped his eyes with a tissue when he appeared before a judge Thursday afternoon in Rock Island County Court.

McAdams was among a number of other Rock Island County Inmates who appeared on screen from a nearby room before a judge in the Rock Island County Justice Center.

Our Quad Cities News crew saw two people come into the courtroom and remain throughout his brief appearance. The judge explained the three charges McAdams faces, and said McAdams is accused of shooting Victoria D. Tillotson on or about Feb. 2.

McAdams hung his head while the judge spoke to him and explained the various sentences McAdams might face for the three charges. The sentence for a first-degree murder charge, upon conviction, can range from 45 years to natural life.

The judge entered a not-guilty plea for McAdams, and said McAdams, who said he does not have a job, will be represented by a public defender. He is set for a preliminary hearing Feb. 20 in Rock Island County Court.

EARLIER UPDATE: Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson has identified the woman found dead as Victoria D. Tillotson, 43.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, he said.
